Forensic Assessment Training – Our Forensic Test User training provides the critical knowledge and practical skills needed to use psychometric measures of personality disorders, mental health and risk. You’ll learn to interpret and use assessments within Forensic contexts, base feedback discussion on results, and prepare test reports for client organisations.

Forensic Assessment Training

Test User training: Forensic (including Assistant Test User: Forensic) topics include:

  • Administering Forensic tests

  • Ensuring data confidentiality and protection

  • Ability and aptitude assessment

  • Measuring personality and personality disorders

  • Mental health and risk assessment

  • Basic principles of scaling and standardisation

  • Norm-referenced score interpretation

  • Test theory and reliability

  • Validity and utility

  • Deciding whether or not to use Forensic tests

  • Interpreting and using test results

  • Developing feedback discussions

  • Preparing results reports

Upon completion of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Competence from the BPS for the Test User; Forensic and Assistant Test User: Forensic Test Administration qualifications. For an annually renewable entry fee, you may elect to register on the BPS Register of Qualifications in Test Use (RQTU). At this point you may refer to yourself as a ‘Registered Test User.’


How Selection by Design’s Forensic Assessment Training Works

Completing the modules for the BPS qualifications in Test User: Forensic and Assistant Test User: Forensic Test Administration with Selection by Design involves an easy, step-by-step process.

  1. Enrol in the Test User: Forensic training using the “Purchase” button to the right. Your registration will be ensured when we have received full payment for the course. Arrangement for an employer’s/business invoice may be made by contacting us.
  2. You’ll receive an Introductory email welcoming you to the course. You will be provided with details on how the course will run, and how to access course materials.
  3. Attend training classes for your courses. Presently, our Forensic test training is delivered remotely. Courses take place over 3 afternoons.
  4. Complete your independent coursework. This includes exercises covered during training and assignments individually completed as homework. Candidates have 2 months to complete and submit their work.
  5. Your coursework will be reviewed. Your Test User: Forensic competencies will be evaluated based on in-class activities and submitted coursework. You will be informed of the outcome of the review. In the unusual event that revisions are needed to demonstrate proficiency, you will be given the opportunity for recovery assessment.
  6. Your qualifications will be recorded with the BPS by your Assessor. The BPS will then contact you to progress registration as a Test User. and to settle payment for registering your qualifications.
  7. You will receive a Certificate of Competence from the BPS for your Test User; Forensic and Assistant Test User: Forensic Test Administration qualifications. What to Expect at Selection by Design’s Test User Training Courses

  • Training Locations: Persons attending training sessions can look forward to the convenience and ready accessibility of remote training at this time.
  • Daily Training Schedule: Forensic test training takes place over 3 consecutive afternoons. Hours are 13:30 – 17:30 GMT each day.
  • Training Resources: Instructional materials are available through SxD’s virtual learning environment. Trainer presentations, group discussion, and collaborative and individual work take place take place through remote access.
  • Training Course Group Size: Selection by Design limits training groups to a maximum of 12 per group. Two Chartered Psychologists/Forensic Assessment Verifiers will work together to deliver your course. The limited size of our courses and the presence of highly specialized psychologists offers unique advantages:
    (a) Individualized attention and personal interaction between with your  professional trainers.
    (b) Assured opportunity for a thorough understanding of presented materials. As a result, you’ll feel comfortable in your own knowledge and skills in Forensic testing.
